Year 2 went to Lambourne End. They were involved in many activities from pond dipping to orienteering and mini-beast hunting. As part of these activities they explored many habitats and micro-habitats.
We worked in teams to solve all the following problems. The workshop helped to develop our independent learning skills, communication skills and problem solving! We soon realised that every puzzle could be solved by using the right strategies and effective team work!
2K visited Canning Town library and were shown how they could take books out to take home. They selected one or two books which they wanted to take away with them on the day and used their new library cards.
Year 2 visited the National Portrait Gallery in Leicester Square and focused on looking at famous Victorians and different styles of portraits.
During national story telling week, we had many parents who came and read to the Year 2 classes. The children enjoyed hearing new stories read to them by parents and carers.
Arts Generation worked with the Year 2 classes to create a series of collaborative hanging chandelier type sculptures. The project was aimed to inspire the children to use recycled materials creatively.
We spoke about what our rights are and how we can respect each other’s rights. We got to work with people we usually wouldn’t work with while also developing our hand-eye coordination skills!
On Monday 30th October 2017 we read The Selfish Giant and discussed the characters and the message of the story. We then wrote what we thought made a good story in our groups.
We sorted the formal letters out from the different things we were given (posters, adverts) and then we arranged the different parts of a letter in the correct order. We also labelled the features of a formal letter and discussed their purpose.
We did some exercises to see the effects they have on our bodies. We noticed that some exercises make our bodies go faster and some stretch different parts of our bodies.
