In Maths, we used cuisenaire rods to solve problems. Also,we used multilinks cubes to calculate the volume of different shapes. These resources make Maths easier.
In English, we were writing a fantasy story and our hook for the story was a visit by “The Queen of Jalakavani” (also known as Ms Singh!). It was an amazing experience!
In Science, we investigated the effect of changing the length of wire, number of batteries and thickness of wire in circuits. The outcome was interesting.
In Year 6 we have been very busy investigating area and perimeter of polygons. We have been breaking them into compound shapes. We have also discovered that shapes can have the same area but a different perimeter.
This was a unique experience! As part of our History topic for the Autumn term, Year 6 learnt about Britain in the early 1940s by experiencing a 1940s school day. The Brain Blaster was an incredibly good start to the year. The children were tasked with solving different problems as part of a team. The children had to draw on their mathematical skills to succeed and at the end of the session the children were grateful for the opportunity to learn and have fun!
