Keir Hardie Parent Teacher Association
Parental involvement is welcomed and valued at Keir Hardie and is crucial to enriching the experience of the children at the school. Our PTA works to create strong links between the staff, parents and others associated with the school. It organises regular events such as the Community and Winter Fairs and Easter Bonnet parade which bring the school together and are always fun occasions. These, along with the termly movie nights, also help to raise funds for activities and equipment that are not covered by the school’s main budget. The PTA holds fortnightly meetings which all are welcome to attend. A member of the senior teaching staff is usually present too. This is a chance to talk about where funds should be spent and ideas for events, as well as an opportunity to meet other parents from across the school.
To find out more about the PTA please look at our PTA noticeboard in the back playground opposite to the EYFS classrooms.

Easter Bonnet-Making Workshop 23rd March 2018
Spring has finally sprung and to mark the event the PTA has hosted a very successful PTA Parent Easter Bonnet Making Workshop! Many parents turned up with recycled materials to create their own Easter Bonnet for the Easter Bonnet parade with their child. Thank you to everyone who came and supported the event. We look forward to seeing the amazing creations at the parade!
PTA Movie Nights
The PTA host a Movie Night every term to parents and pupils. This is an occasion for families and the community to get together to share our passion for films. Tickets are priced competitively at £1 for both adults and pupils. There are popcorn, sweets and refreshments on sale, lovingly prepared by our PTA volunteers. All monies raised goes towards buying resources or funding events for pupils at Keir Hardie.
Winter Fair 2017
The Winter Fair was a huge success with many families attending. Many tried the various arts and crafts activities and there were delicious food, hot chocolate, cakes, brilliant toy stalls, dancing, raffle prizes and amazing MC-ing from Mr Mohammed, and of course a great grotto with Santa.
The PTA hosted their first AGM at Keir Hardie. Our chair, Lisa Palmer, and core members fed back to the community regarding the PTA’s events, successes and how they could get involved in the future. Our treasurer, Diana Rus, also shared the PTA’s expenditure report with parents. Our core members have been re-elected for this year and will continue to work hard to drive and expand the PTA at Keir Hardie. We have also managed to recruit new parents to volunteer for our Movie Nights and the Winter Fair. Thank you to everyone who came to support!
Community Fair 2017
BBQ, Candy Floss, Pop Corn, Face Painting, Bouncy Castle, and much, much more! Keir Hardie’s Community Fair was a great success and we would like to say a big thank you to everybody for their help and support. A special thank you goes to our PTA for all their hard work in helping to plan, organise, set up and man the stalls on the day.
PTA Easter Bonnet Parade
A big thank you goes out to all the members of the PTA who worked so hard to organise and host our first Easter Bonnet Parade. It was fantastic to see the results of parent/child collaboration in the form of such spectacular bonnets and baskets! We would like to thank our judges; Brendon (Year 5), Ms Symes and Mr Gunyon as theirs was truly an unenviable task, the standard was so high. We would also like to thank all those parents who donated easter eggs, cakes etc. and bought raffle tickets to help raise money for the school.
Easter Bonnet-Making Workshop
The PTA Easter Bonnet making workshop was a huge success with many parents and pupils across the year groups attending. Parents and pupils worked collaboratively to create either an Easter bonnet or basket in preparation for the Easter Parade. We can’t wait to see all the creations come together at the parade! Thank you to all of the parents and carers for their continued support.
The PTA has hosted their first Winter Fair at Keir Hardie. It was a resounding success and the fair raised £490 for the school. They would like to thank all of the staff, pupils and parents who volunteered and donated items towards the fair. A huge thanks goes to Countryside for their generous donation of £500 which helped to fund the event.
It has been a busy festive period for our PTA, they have been organising presents for Santa’s Grotto at the Winter Fair. With their valiant efforts they managed to wrap in total 400 presents!
