Tudors – January 2017

Year 5 had the opportunity to become Tudors for a day! It was part of our History topic for Spring term and through it we learnt a huge amount about what life might have been like for the rich and poor in 1536. In the morning we discovered some of the different jobs people might have had; we learnt about how candles were made, how people made their ink to write and even how doctors cured headaches…

We found out how without newspapers, radio or television news and gossip spread- including the accusations that were made about one of Henry VIII’s wives! In the afternoon we took part in an actual Tudor banquet hosted by Thomas Cromwell himself. The day was a wonderful experience which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
