The children in Reception have been learning a variety of new artistic techniques this week. We have been looking at Claude Monet, the French painter. We took inspiration from his Garden paintings, particularly Waterlilies. We looked at how he used watercolours to create different effects and then we gave it a go!
The children quickly realised that painting with watercolours is a very different task to other paints and it requires a lot of focus and patience.
We used cupcake containers to give the impression of the water lilies floating on the top of the lake.
Have a look at some of the water lilies that we made for our classrooms.
