We took a group of 32 pupils to participate in the ‘Sports In Your Future’ festival at The University of East London. It was a fun and exciting event with different schools in attendance, interview of former Olympic athlete Christine Ohuruogu, a large carousel (i.e. basketball, skipping, volleyball and cricket), and a live university basketball match.
How did Sport In Your Future affect you?
“I believe the festival was fun, enjoyable and interesting. The lead, Christine Ohuruogu, and sports coaches were very helpful and engaging. Also, this event gave everyone the opportunity to be in a University and that is inspiring.”
What was your favourite activity of the day? and why?
“My favourite activity of the day was basketball because it was fun, enjoyable and challenging. Also, the coaches let us try different activities, which focused on certain skills (i.e dribbling, passing and shooting). It was great!”
What was your highlight of the day?
“Meeting a former olympic athlete, as I never thought this would be possible.”
Did Christine Ohuruogu inspire you?
“Christine Ohuruogu was helpful and insightful. We were taught valuable lessons she learnt during her sporting career – about determination, self-belief and never giving up. Also, my friends and I wore and held one of her three olympic medals, which was amazing.”
