On 11th May, Year 5 visited the Imperial War Museum in Central London to support their History learning on the First World War. We were by turns excited and saddened by the exhibitions, showing the massive scale of conflict that the world had never experienced before. We also had an incredible opportunity to speak to a survivor of the Second World War, who was 9 years old – the same age as we! – when she was evacuated from London at the start of the Blitz. Although we are currently studying the First World War, rather than the Second, her experience resonated with us and gave us an idea of the terrible impact of war on the lives of ordinary people.
