We have waited very patiently for our caterpillars to undergo metamorphosis. We started three weeks ago with 5 little caterpillars. We have watched them grow bigger and bigger and build their own chrysalis. We then waited some more for them to mature and emerge and today is the day! Four beautiful butterflies have opened their wings in our butterfly net.
The children have been in awe and they are excited to set them free in the garden next week!
We have one chrysalis left…we are very hopeful that he is just a late bloomer and will emerge over the weekend.
To celebrate the event of new life and change, we designed butterfly sun catchers to put on the windows. The weather is improving and the sun is creating pretty patterns on the classroom floor!
